You have studied the standard of the Samoyed breed, learned how to groom your own pup and feel that your pup is ready for the conformation ring at a local show near you. Whats next? Once you have decided to show your Sammy you need to register and prepare for the exhibition.

Finding Shows

First you need to find Conformation shows near you. If you are in the United States, go to Infodog.com. This is the website where you can search for upcoming events or even the results of past competitions. You will be able to search for events by State or event type.

Once you have found the appropriate exhibition, you need to register for it. To participate in the show, you must have AKC paperwork to verify your Samoyed. To keep it simple, you can enroll your four-legged child in an Open class (non-champion) or in Best of Breed class (Champions).

Showing

At the show, open class dogs will be compared to other Sammies of the same sex. Once a winner from both females (bitches) and males (dogs) are selected, the winner of these two dogs will go to the Best of Breed competition. This part of the competition is the final comparison of all the Samoyeds in the show and a winner for our breed will be selected.
